Acceptable Use Policy for Edexcel MathsZone
For learners
Definitions:
“Service Users” refers to all of the registered users of MathsZone. They include students, teachers, other school staff and members of the MathsZone Team, ie the eMentors and Administrators.
- MathsZone is a closed area of the Internet. You must only access those services you have been given permission to use.
- Do not disclose your MathsZone login username and password to anyone.
- Do not make use of any MathsZone login username or password other than your own.

Do not give your personal details, or the personal details of any other person, to anyone on MathsZone, except the MathsZone Team. This especially includes:
- Do not download, use or upload any material from the Internet, unless you have the owner's permission.
- Under no circumstances, when using MathsZone, should you view, download, store, distribute or upload any material that is likely to be unsuitable for children or schools. This material includes, but is not limited to, pornography, unethical or illegal requests, racism, sexism, inappropriate language, or any use which may be likely to cause offence. If you are not sure about this, or come across any such material within MathsZone, you must inform the MathsZone Team by sending a message to the eMentors. Always respect the privacy of files of other Service Users.
- Under no circumstances, when using MathsZone, are you allowed to upload, store or distribute copies of past exam papers, model answers or coursework.
- Under no circumstances are you allowed to privately or openly buy or sell any items/merchandise on or through MathsZone – especially for personal financial gain. Avoid any acts of vandalism on or to MathsZone. This includes, but is not limited to, uploading or creating computer viruses and mischievously deleting or altering data from its place of storage.
- Under no circumstances are you allowed to use MathsZone to give undue help to other students in matters relating to your coursework. You must not discuss the exact details of your coursework with the eMentors, other students or teachers. Discussion forums will be monitored for evidence of this and, where necessary, posts will be deleted from the forums and sanctions taken against the individual/s concerned. You must list all sources of help you access when developing your own work, eg books, websites, help-guides etc. Assistance you receive from MathsZone is no different from these other sources. You must acknowledge any help you have had from the Mentors or from any other area of MathsZone when you write up your coursework for submission.
- Be polite and appreciate that other Service Users might have different views to your own. The use of strong language, swearing or aggressive behaviour is not permitted.
- Use the discussion forums for exchanging information and constructive debate only.
Failure to comply with these rules will result in one or more of the following:
- Restricted use of MathsZone, eg you may not be able to send messages or participate in forum discussions
- A suspension, temporary or permanent, from your use of MathsZone, with a letter informing your school/parents of the breach of rules

For teachers

- any adult working at your school
- any student at your school.
- Do not download, use or upload any material from the Internet that is copyright of others.
- Under no circumstances, when using MathsZone, should you view, download, store, distribute or upload any material that is likely to be unsuitable for children or schools. This material includes, but is not limited to, pornography, unethical or illegal requests, racism, sexism, inappropriate language, or any use which may be likely to cause offence. If you are not sure about this, or come across any such material within MathsZone, you must inform the MathsZone Team through the ‘Feedback’ link at the very bottom of your homepage. Always respect the privacy of files of other Service Users.
